Interpretation 2 In these Regulations “the principal Regulations” means the Building Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2012. Amendment to Regulation 3 (Transitional provisions) of the principal Regulations 3 The principal Regulations are amended as follows— a in regulation 3(2) for “These” substitute “Subject to paragraph (4), these”; and b after regulation 3(3) insert— 4 In relation to work or building work and a material change of use referred to in paragraph (2), a district council may serve a contravention notice under Article 18 of the Building Regulations (Northern Ireland) Order 1979 (including a notice in respect of anything of which particulars were not required to be shown in the plans deposited with the district council) at any time up to 12 months from the date of completion of the work in question. . These Regulations amend the Building Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2012 (the principal Regulations) and they come into operation on 31st October 2012.

These Regulations amend Part A of the principal Regulations as follows—

Regulation 3(2) has been amended and a new paragraph 3(4) has been introduced to prescribe a timescale for issuing a contravention notice under Article 18 of the Building Regulations (Northern Ireland) Order 1979 in relation to work completed on plans deposited before the 31st October 2012.
