Coming into operation

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development1, makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 22(1) and (2) of the Diseases of Animal Act (Northern Ireland) 20102.

Citation and interpretation1

This Order may be cited as the Diseases of Animals (2010 Act) (Commencement and Transitional Provisions) Order (Northern Ireland) 2010.

In this Order—

  • the Act” means the Diseases of Animals Act (Northern Ireland) 2010.

Appointed Day2

In so far as not already in operation, the day appointed for the coming into operation of the Act is the 12th day of March 2010.

Transitional Provision3

Section 6 of the Act shall only apply in respect of offences committed after the coming into operation of that Section.

For the purposes of this Article any offence which begins before the date of coming into operation of section 6 but which continues after that date shall be treated as having been committed after that date.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order brings into operation on the 12th day of March 2010 the provisions of the Diseases of Animals Act (Northern Ireland) 2010 which are not already in operation. It also makes transitional provision in connection with the commencement of section 6 of the Diseases of Animals Act (Northern Ireland) 2010.
