The Department for Employment and Learning makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by Articles 1(3) and (4) of the Work and Families (Northern Ireland) Order 2006(1).
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Work and Families (Northern Ireland) Order 2006 (Commencement No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 2010.
(2) In this Order “the 2006 Order” means the Work and Families (Northern Ireland) Order 2006.
2. The following provisions of the 2006 Order shall come into operation on 9th September 2010—
(a)Articles 5 to 12;
(b)Article 13(1), in so far as it relates to the provisions in Schedule 1 referred to in paragraph (c); and
(c)Schedule 1, paragraphs 18, 19, 21, 23, 27, 29, 36, 37, 40, 42, 43 and 46 to 48.
3. The following provisions of the 2006 Order shall come into operation on 1st October 2010—
(a)Article 13(1), in so far as it relates to the provisions in Schedule 1 referred to in paragraph (d);
(b)Article 13(2) and (3);
(c)Article 17, in so far as it relates to the provisions in Schedule 2 referred to in paragraph (e);
(d)Schedule 1, paragraphs 1 to 4, 9 to 14, 15(2), 16, 17, 24 to 26, 28, 34, 35, 38, 39, 41, 44, 45, 49 and 50;
(e)Schedule 2, in so far as it gives effect to the following repeals—
(i)Article 7(2)(a) of the Employment (Northern Ireland) Order 2002(2);
(ii)paragraphs 1(1), 4(1), 4(7) and 4(14) of Schedule 2 to that Order; and
(iii)paragraph 4(19), in so far as it relates to Articles 112A, 112B and 112G of the Employment Rights (Northern Ireland) Order 1996.

This Order brings into operation certain provisions of the Work and Families (Northern Ireland) Order 2006 (S.I. 2006/1947 (N.I. 16)) (“the 2006 Order”).
Those provisions which concern powers to make regulations governing additional paternity leave and pay come into operation on 9th September 2010.
Other provisions concerning additional paternity leave and pay come into operation on 1st October 2010.
By virtue of Article 1(2) of the 2006 Order, Articles 1 and 2 of that Order came into operation on 26th July 2006. Certain other provisions of the 2006 Order were brought into operation by an earlier Commencement Order (as noted below).

The following provisions of the Work and Families (Northern Ireland) Order 2006 have been brought into operation by a Commencement Order made before the date of this Order.
