The Department for Social Development makes the following Order, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 12(1) of the Mesothelioma, etc., Act (Northern Ireland) 2008(1).
Citation and commencement
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Mesothelioma, etc., (2008 Act) (Commencement) Order (Northern Ireland) 2008.
(2) In this Order “the Act” means the Mesothelioma, etc., Act (Northern Ireland) 2008.
Appointed days
2.—(1) The day appointed for the coming into operation of the provisions of the Act specified in the Schedule—
(a)for the purpose only of authorising the making of regulations, is 27th August 2008; and
(b)for all other purposes, is 1st October 2008.
(2) In so far as not already in operation, the day appointed for the coming into operation of the Act is 1st October 2008.

This Order provides for the coming into operation of provisions of the Mesothelioma, etc., Act (Northern Ireland) 2008 as follows—
27th August 2008 for provisions listed in the Schedule for the purpose only of authorising the making of regulations; and
1st October 2008 for all other purposes.
