The Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety (1), being a Department designated (2) for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972(3) in relation to measures in respect of the conditions of, and the recognition of qualifications for, access to and pursuit of activities in the field of pharmacy, makes the following regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(2) of, as read with paragraph 1A of Schedule 2(4) to, the European Communities Act 1972.
These regulations make provision for a purpose mentioned in section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972 and it appears to the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety that it is expedient for the references to Directive 2005/36/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 7th September 2005 on the recognition of professional qualifications(5), or to a provision of that Directive, to be construed as references to that Directive, or to that provision of the Directive, as amended from time to time.
