The Department of the Environment makes the following By-Laws in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 65(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 19811.

Citation and commencement1.

These By-Laws may be cited as the Motor Hackney Carriages (Belfast) (Amendment) By-Laws (Northern Ireland) 2007 and shall come into operation on 17th December 2007.

For the Schedule to the By-Laws made in respect of Motor Hackney Carriages standing or plying for hire made by the Council of the County Borough of Belfast on 4th June 19512 substitute—

Revocation3.

The Motor Hackney Carriages (Belfast) (Amendment) By-Laws (Northern Ireland) 20033 and the Motor Hackney Carriages (Belfast) (Amendment) By-Laws (Northern Ireland) 20054 are revoked.

These By-Laws revoke and replace with amendments the Schedule to the Motor Hackney Carriages (Belfast) By-Laws made by the Council of the County Borough of Belfast on 4th June 1951.

They make provision for new taxi stands at Bedford Street, Brunswick Street, Donegall Street, Dublin Road, University Road and Waring Street.

In the taxi stand on the east side of Great Victoria Street “the hours available for use” are amended from “7.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m.” to “7.00 p.m. to 7.00 a.m.” to correct an earlier drafting error.
