<Text>These Regulations may be cited as the Income Support (General) (Standard Interest Rate Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2004 and shall come into operation on 21st March 2004.</Text>
</P2para>

<Text>These Regulations shall have effect in relation to any particular claimant –</Text>

<Pnumber>a</Pnumber>

<Text>in a case where income support is paid to the claimant in arrears, in accordance with paragraph 1(a) of Schedule 2A to the <Abbreviation Expansion="Social Security and Child Support (Decisions and Appeals) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999 (S.R. 1999/162)">Decisions and Appeals Regulations</Abbreviation><FootnoteRef Ref="f00003"/> (date on which change of circumstances takes effect in certain cases where a claimant is in receipt of income support) –</Text>

<Text>if the claim for income support is for a period commencing after 28th March 2004, from the first day of the first benefit week commencing after 21st March 2004;</Text>

<Text>in a case where income support is paid to the claimant in advance, in accordance with paragraph 1(b) of Schedule 2A to the Decisions and Appeals Regulations, from the first day of the first benefit week commencing after 28th March 2004,</Text>
</P3para>
</P3>
<Text>and for this purpose, the expressions “claimant” and “benefit week” have the same meanings as in regulation 2(1) of the <Abbreviation Expansion="Income Support (General) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1987 (S.R. 1987/459)">Income Support Regulations</Abbreviation><FootnoteRef Ref="f00004"/> (interpretation).</Text>

<Title>Amendment of Schedule 3 to the Income Support Regulations</Title>

<Text>In Schedule 3 to the Income Support Regulations<FootnoteRef Ref="f00008"/> (housing costs), in paragraph 12(1)(a) (standard rate of interest on qualifying loans) for “5.07 per cent.” there shall be substituted “5.33 per cent.”.</Text>

<Title>Revocation and saving</Title>

<Pnumber>3</Pnumber>
<P1para>
<Text>The Income Support (General) (Standard Interest Rate Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003<FootnoteRef Ref="f00009"/> are hereby revoked save that those Regulations shall continue to have effect until the day before the first day of the benefit week having effect in relation to any particular claimant for the purpose of regulation 1(2) of these Regulations.</Text>

<Text>These Regulations make in relation to Northern Ireland only provision corresponding to provision contained in Regulations made by the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions in relation to Great Britain and accordingly, by virtue of section 149(3) of, and paragraph 10 of Schedule 5 to, the Social Security Administration (Northern Ireland) Act <Citation URI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukpga/1992/8" id="c00001" Class="UnitedKingdomPublicGeneralAct" Year="1992" Number="0008">1992 (c. 8)</Citation>, are not subject to the requirement of section 149(2) of that Act for prior reference to the Social Security Advisory Committee.</Text>

<Text>These Regulations do not impose a charge on business.</Text>
