Under section 3 of the Act the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (“the Council”) must maintain a register of social workers and of social care workers of any other description specified by Order made by the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety. This Order specifies students, participating in a course approved by the Council for persons wishing to become social workers, as a description of social care worker for the purposes of section 3 of the Act.</dc:description>
