Amendment of the Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999 2 In regulation 2(1) of the Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999, in the definition of “heavy motor car”, for “3050 kg” there shall be substituted “2540 kg”. These Regulations further amend the Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999 (“the 1999 Regulations”) in order to correct an anomaly between the definition of a “heavy motor car” in the 1999 Regulations and the definition of a “heavy motor car” in the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1995.

In the 1999 Regulations the definition of a “heavy motor car” is amended to bring it into line with the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1995 wherein a “heavy motor car” is defined as having an unladen weight exceeding 2540 kilograms.
