The publication specifies, with respect to vehicles with spark ignition engines, the maximum permitted carbon monoxide content of exhaust emissions at idling speed and the limits for the ratio of air to petrol vapour entering the combustion chamber, in relation to each of the vehicle models named in the publication. 2004 No. 356 ROAD TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) (Amendment <Abbreviation Expansion="Number">No.</Abbreviation> 4) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2004 Made 24th August 2004 Coming into operation 1st October 2004 The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Articles 55(1), (2) and (6) and 110(2) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1995 and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations: Citation, commencement and interpretation 1 1 These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) (Amendment No. 4) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2004 and shall come into operation on 1st October 2004. 2 In these Regulations “the principal Regulations” means the Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999. Amendment to Schedule 10 (emissions from certain motor vehicles) 2 1 Schedule 10 to the principal Regulations shall be amended in accordance with paragraph (2). 2 In paragraph 7, for sub-paragraph (b) there shall be substituted the following sub- paragraph – b “the emissions publication” is the publication entitled “In Service Exhaust Emission Standards for Road Vehicles (Tenth Edition)” (ISBN 0-9526457-9-3) published by the Department for Transport. . Revocation 3 The Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) (Amendment No. 3) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003 are hereby revoked.
