This Statutory Rule has been made to correct a drafting error in S.R. 2003 No. 365 2003 No. 381 EMPLOYMENT Time Off for Public Duties (<Abbreviation Expansion="Number">No.</Abbreviation> 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 2003 Made 14th August 2003 Coming into operation 24th August 2003 The Department for Employment and Learning, in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 78(8)(a) of the Employment Rights (Northern Ireland) Order 1996, and now vested in it, and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order – Citation and commencement 1 This Order may be cited as the Time Off for Public Duties (No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 2003 and shall come into operation on 24th August 2003. Revocation 2 The Time Off for Public Duties Order (Northern Ireland) 2003 is hereby revoked. Time off for public duties 3 In Article 78(2) of the Employment Rights (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 – a after sub-paragraph (d) “or” shall be omitted; and b after sub-paragraph (e) the following shall be inserted – or f a district policing partnership, . This Order revokes and replaces the Time Off for Public Duties Order (Northern Ireland) 2003 (S.R. 2003 No. 365) to correct drafting errors in it.

Article 78 of the Employment Rights (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 (“the 1996 Order”) requires an employer to allow time off during working hours, subject to the provisions of that Article, to an employee who is a member of a body specified in it. Article 3 of this Order modifies Article 78 of the 1996 Order by adding district policing partnerships, established on the coming into force of certain provisions of the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 2000, to the list of bodies whose members are covered by that Article.

Formerly known as the Department of Higher and Further Education, Training and Employment; renamed the Department for Employment and Learning by the Department for Employment and Learning Act (Northern Ireland) 2001 (c. 15) S.I. 1996/1919 (N.I. 16) Article 4(b) and Part II of Schedule 2 of the Departments (Transfer and Assignment of Functions) Order (Northern Ireland) 1999 (S.R. 1999/481) transferred functions under the Employment Rights (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 from the Department of Economic Development to the Department of Higher and Further Education, Training and Employment, now renamed the Department for Employment and Learning S.R. 2003 No. 365
