The Airports Byelaws (Designation) Order (Northern Ireland) 2002

The Department for Regional Development1, in exercise of the powers conferred and now exercisable by it2 by Article 18(1) of the Airports (Northern Ireland) Order 19943 and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement1.

This Order may be cited as the Airports Byelaws (Designation) Order (Northern Ireland) 2002 and shall come into operation on 3rd February 2003.

Designation2.

The following airports are hereby designated for the purposes of Article 18 of the Airports (Northern Ireland) Order 1994, that is to say–

(a)

Belfast International Airport; and

(b)

Belfast City Airport.

Under Article 18(2) of the Airports (Northern Ireland) Order 1994 the operator of an airport to which the Article applies may make byelaws for regulating the use and operation of the airport and the conduct of persons while within the airport. Article 18(1) of that Order provides that any airport other than an airport managed by a district council must be designated for the purposes of Article 18.

This Order designates Belfast International Airport and Belfast City Airport for the purposes of the said Article 18.
