These Byelaws amend the Fisheries Byelaws (Northern Ireland) 1997 (“the principal Byelaws”).

The principal changes are as follows: 1 Byelaw 4 reinserts Byelaw 72 (annual close season for angling for salmon, trout, and rainbow trout) into the principal Byelaws. Byelaw 72 was previously revoked by the Fisheries (Amendment No. 3) Byelaws (Northern Ireland) 2000 (S.R. 2000 No. 364). 2 Byelaws 3 and 5 introduce new fishing rod licences, and the duties that apply to them, for disabled anglers. 3 Byelaw 6 substitutes a new Schedule for Schedule 4 to the principal Byelaws (list of rainbow trout waters where there is no annual close season for angling for rainbow trout). Islandderry Lake, Dromore Road, Lurgan, Ballywillwill Lake, Annsborough, Lough Money, Portavoe Reservoir, The Egg Cup, Dundrum and 194 Caledon Road, Aughnacloy are added to the list of rainbow trout waters in the Schedule. Potterswall Reservoir, Gibson’s Lough, and Rectory Lodge Trout Fishery are reinserted into the Schedule following the revocation made by S.R. 2000 No. 364. The rainbow trout water listed as Magherascouse Road, Ballygowan, is renamed as Hazelwood Rainbow Trout Fishery.
