<Text>The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Article 13 of the Magistrates' Courts (Northern Ireland) Order 1981<FootnoteRef Ref="f00001"/>, on the advice of the Magistrates' Courts Rules Committee and after consultation with the Lord Chief Justice, hereby makes the following Rules:—</Text>

<Text>These Rules may be cited as the Magistrates' Courts (Amendment) Rules (Northern Ireland) 2001 and shall come into operation on 11th January 2002.</Text>

<Title>Amendment of principal rules</Title>

<Text>Rule 143 of the Magistrates' Courts Rules (Northern Ireland) 1984<FootnoteRef Ref="f00002"/> shall be amended by substituting for paragraph (1) the following new paragraph:</Text>

<Text>Subject to this Rule, a warrant issued by a resident magistrate or justice of the peace in proceedings upon complaint shall be addressed to the district commander for the police district in which the warrant is issued.</Text>
