ROAD TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES

The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred upon it by Articles 55(1) and (2) and 110(2) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1995(1), and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Road Vehicles Lighting (Amendment No. 2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2001 and shall come into operation on 1st December 2001.
2. In regulation 13 of the Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2000(2), after paragraph 2(s), there shall be inserted—
“(sa)reflected blue, yellow and white light from a retro reflective plate displaying a distinguishing sign in accordance with Council Regulation (EC) No. 2411/98(3);”.

These Regulations amend the Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2000 by permitting, on the rear of the vehicle, a plate displaying the international distinguishing sign of the United Kingdom in accordance with Council Regulation (EC) No. 2411/98 (notwithstanding that it comprises retro reflective material which is not red).
