The European Commission has authorised the continuation of the temporary exception provided for by these Regulations. 2001 No. 340 EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES ROAD TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES The Community Drivers' Hours (Foot-and-Mouth Disease) (Temporary Exception) (<Abbreviation Expansion="Number">No.</Abbreviation> 2) (Amendment No. 5) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2001 Made 2nd October 2001 Coming into operation 5th October 2001 The Department of the Environment, being a Department designated for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972 in relation to the regulation and supervision of working conditions of persons engaged in road transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by that section and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations: Citation, commencement and interpretation 1 —These Regulations may be cited as the Community Drivers' Hours (Foot-and-Mouth Disease) (Temporary Exception) (No. 2) (Amendment No. 5) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2001 and shall come into operation on 5th October 2001. 2 The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954 shall apply to these Regulations as it applies to an Act of the Northern Ireland Assembly. Amendment of the Community Drivers' Hours (Foot-and-Mouth Disease) (Temporary Exception) (No. 2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2001 2 In regulation 2(1) (interpretation) of the Community Drivers' Hours (Foot-and-Mouth Disease) (Temporary Exception) (No. 2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2001, in the definition of “prescribed period” for the words “period of 30 days beginning on 4th September 2001” there shall be substituted “period of 30 days beginning on 4th October 2001”.
