The Local Government (General Grant) Order (Northern Ireland) 1999

To be laid before Parliament under paragraph 3(3) of Schedule 1 to the Northern Ireland Act 1974
Coming into operation
The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 3(1) of Part I of Schedule 1 to the Local Government &c. (Northern Ireland) Order 19721 and now vested in it2 and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement1.

This Order may be cited as the Local Government (General Grant) Order (Northern Ireland) 1999 and shall come into operation on 9th June 1999.

General Grant2.

For the purpose of paragraph 3(1) of Part I of Schedule 1 to the Local Government &c. (Northern Ireland) Order 1972 the districts specified for the year ending 31st March 2000 shall be the districts listed below—

  • Ards

  • Armagh

  • Ballymoney

  • Banbridge

  • Belfast

  • Carrickfergus

  • Castlereagh

  • Cookstown

  • Craigavon

  • Derry3
  • Down

  • Dungannon

  • Fermanagh

  • Limavady

  • Magherafelt

  • Moyle

  • Newry & Mourne

  • Newtownabbey

  • North Down

  • Omagh

  • Strabane

Revocation3.

The Local Government (General Grant) Order (Northern Ireland) 19954 is hereby revoked.

This Order—

(a)

specifies those districts which are to be taken into account in calculating the standard penny rate products for the year ending 31st March 2000 for the purpose of computing the resources element of the grant made from central funds by the Department of the Environment to district councils (Article 2);

(b)

revokes a previous Order which is now spent (Article 3).
