Citation, commencement and interpretation1.

These Regulations may be cited as the Pharmaceutical Services (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1998 and shall come into operation on 1st May 1998.

Amendment of regulation 2 of the principal Regulations2.
In regulation 2 of the principal Regulations (interpretation), in paragraph (2)(a)(iii) and (2)(b)(ii) for the words from “fundholding” to “effect” there shall be substituted the words “medical practitioner whose name is included in the medical list”.

These Regulations amend the Pharmaceutical Services Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1997 (“the principal Regulations”) by making provision for all nurses employed by medical practitioners (and not just those employed in fundholding practices) to write prescriptions.
