The Department of Health and Social Services, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Articles 6(3), 6(8) and 36(2) of the Registered Homes (Northern Ireland) Order 1992(1) and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following regulations:
1.—(1) These regulations may be cited as the Residential Care Homes (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1998 and shall come into operation on 1st May 1998.
(2) In these regulations, “the principal regulations” means the Residential Care Homes Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1993(2).
2. In Schedule 1 (Registration fees) to the principal regulations—
(a)in paragraph 1(a) and paragraph 2 for “£230” there shall be substituted “£261”; and
(b)in paragraph 1(b) for “£840” there shall be substituted “£952”.
3. In Schedule 3 (Annual fees) to the principal regulations—
(a)in paragraph 1 for “£41” there shall be substituted “£46”; and
(b)in paragraph 2 for “£30” there shall be substituted “£34”.

These Regulations amend the Residential Care Homes Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1993 which make provision for the registration of residential care homes under the Registered Homes (Northern Ireland) Order 1992.
These regulations increase the prescribed fees payable in respect of applications for registration, for continuation of registration and for related procedures.
