WELFARE OF ANIMALS

These Regulations give effect to the provisions of Council Directive 93/119/EC on the protection of animals at time of slaughter or killing (O.J. No. L340, 31.12.93, p. 21).

Permitted methods of stunning animals4

No person shall stun any animal, or cause or permit any animal to be stunned, except by one of the following methods—

a

captive bolt;

b

concussion; or

c

electronarcosis.
