The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954 (c. 33) shall apply to Article 1 and the following provisions of this Order as it applies to an Act of the Assembly.

In this Order—

  • “the Department” means the Department for Social Development;

  • “occupier” means the person entitled to possession of the land by virtue of an estate or interest held by him;

  • “trespass” means trespass as against the occupier of the land; and

  • “vehicle” includes—

    1. a

      any vehicle, whether or not it is in a fit state for use on roads, and includes any chassis or body, with or without wheels, appearing to have formed part of such a vehicle and any load carried by, and anything attached to such a vehicle; and

    2. b

      a caravan within the meaning of the Caravans Act (Northern Ireland) 1963 (c. 17).

A person may be regarded for the purposes of this Order as having a purpose of residing in a place notwithstanding that he has a home elsewhere.
