Travelling expenses of patients, etc.N.I.

45.—(1) The Ministry may, by regulations, provide for the payment[F1 by the Department or an [F2HSC trust]] in accordance with prescribed scales and in such circumstances as may be prescribed, of the whole or part of any travelling or other out-of-pocket expenses necessarily incurred—

(a)by any person[F3 of a prescribed description] for the purpose of availing himself of such services under this Order [F4, the 2009 Act][F1 or the 1991 Order] as may be prescribed;

(b)by any person accompanying such person as is mentioned in paragraph ( a);

(c)by any relative[F3 being a person of a prescribed description,] visiting a person availing himself of services under this Order [F5or the 2009 Act].

[F1and such regulations may provide for the reimbursement by the Department to an [F2HSC trust] of payments made by the trust by virtue of this paragraph.]

[F3(2) Paragraph 1B of Schedule 15 (powers to prescribe descriptions of persons) shall have effect in relation to paragraph (1) as it has effect in relation to paragraph 1(b) of that Schedule.]
