An Act to empower the Department of Education to give binding directions to the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland.

BE IT ENACTED by being passed by the Northern Ireland Assembly and assented to by Her Majesty as follows:
1.—(1) The Education and Libraries (Northern Ireland) Order 1986 is amended as follows.
(2) In Article 101 (power of Department to give directions), after sub-paragraph (f) of paragraph (3), insert—
“(fa)the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland;”.
2.—(1) This Act comes into operation on the day after receiving Royal Assent.
(2) This Act may be cited as the General Teaching Council (Directions) Act (Northern Ireland) 2022.
