CHAPTER 2TRAINING FOR GOVERNORS AND CLERKS AND PROVISION OF CLERKS
24Training for clerks to the governing bodies of maintained schools
(1)
Subsection (2) applies in relation to a body that is required to appoint a clerk to the governing body of a maintained school in Wales under section 23 of the Education Act 2002.
(2)
Regulations may require the body to ensure that a person appointed as clerk has completed prescribed training to a prescribed standard.
(3)
The regulations may—
(a)
prohibit the appointment of person who has not completed the training to the required standard;
(b)
provide for a person appointed as a clerk who has not completed the training to complete the training to the required standard within a prescribed period;
(c)
provide for termination of the appointment of a clerk who does not complete the training to the required standard within that period;
(d)
prescribe training and standards by reference to a document published, as specified in the regulations, by the Welsh Ministers;
(e)
provide for exceptions and exemptions.
