CHAPTER 3 Animal health requirements for fresh meat of poultry and game birds

SECTION 1SPECIFIC ANIMAL HEALTH REQUIREMENTS FOR FRESH MEAT OF POULTRY

Article 144The establishment of origin for the fresh meat of poultry

Consignments of fresh meat of poultry shall only be permitted to enter the Union if the fresh meat of the consignment originates from a slaughterhouse which:

  1. (a)

    at the time of slaughter, was not under restrictions due to an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza or infection with Newcastle disease virus or under official restrictions under national legislation for animal health reasons;

  2. (b)

    within a 10 km radius of the slaughterhouse, including, where appropriate, the territory of a neighbouring country, there has been no outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza or infection with Newcastle disease virus during the period of at least 30 days prior to the date of slaughter.
