Article 9Methods for classification of beef, pig and sheep carcasses

F1The relevant authorities shall ensure that beef, pig and sheep carcass classification is carried out:

  1. (a)

    by qualified classifiers who have obtained a licence for visual classification of carcasses. The licence may be replaced by an approval granted by the F2appropriate authority where such approval corresponds to recognition of a qualification; or

  2. (b)

    by using authorised grading methods that may consist of automated or semi-automated or manual grading techniques as provided for in Articles 10 and 11. F1The relevant authorities shall ensure that the grading techniques are operated by qualified personnel
