F1This Regulation establishes rules on the collection, management and use of biological, environmental, technical and socioeconomic data in the fisheries sector as provided for in Article 25 of Regulation (EU) No 1380/2013 F2with a view to contributing to the achievement of the fisheries objectives.

The data referred to in paragraph 1 shall only be collected if no obligation to collect them exists under F3applicable law other than this Regulation.

For data necessary for fisheries management which are collected under other F4applicable law, this Regulation only defines rules for the use and transmission of those data.
