ANNEX VIII Measurements and calculations for process chillers
1.For the purposes of compliance and verification of compliance with the requirements of this Regulation, measurements and calculations shall be made using harmonised standards the reference numbers of which have been published for that purpose in the Official Journal of the European Union, or using other reliable, accurate and reproducible methods that take into account the generally recognised state-of-the-art methods. They shall meet the conditions and technical parameters set out in points 2 and 3.
2.For establishing the values of cooling capacity, power input, energy efficiency ratio and seasonal energy performance ratio, measurements shall be made under the following conditions:
the reference ambient temperature at the outdoor heat exchanger shall be 35 °C for air-cooled chillers and 30 °C water inlet temperature at the condenser for water-cooled chillers;
the outlet temperature of the liquid at the indoor heat exchanger shall be – 25 °C for low temperature and – 8 °C for medium temperature;
the variations of ambient temperature throughout the year, representative of average climate conditions in the Union, and the corresponding number of hours when these temperatures occur, shall be as set out in Table 6 in Annex VI;
the effect of the degradation of energy efficiency caused by cycling depending on the type of capacity control of the process chiller shall be taken into account.
