No person shall transport animals by road for a long journey unless the means of transport has been inspected and approved under Article 18(1) F1of this Regulation or has been inspected and approved in Northern Ireland under Article 18(1) of the EU Council Regulation.

No person shall transport by sea, for more than 10 nautical miles, domestic Equidae and domestic animals of bovine, ovine, caprine or porcine species from a F2port in Great Britain unless the livestock vessel has been inspected and approved under Article 19(1) F3of this Regulation or has been inspected and approved in Northern Ireland under Article 19(1) of the EU Council Regulation.

The provisions of paragraph 1 and paragraph 2 apply to containers used for the transport of domestic Equidae or domestic animals of bovine, ovine, caprine or porcine species by road and/or by water, for long journeys.
