Member States shall ensure that craft referred to in Article 2(1) operating on the Union inland waterways referred to in Article 4 are constructed and maintained in accordance with the requirements set out in this Directive.

Compliance of a craft with paragraph 1 shall be attested by a certificate issued in accordance with this Directive.
