Athena shall protect individuals with regard to the processing of their personal data in accordance with the principles and procedures laid down in Regulation (EC) No 45/2001(1) of the European Parliament and of the Council. To this effect, the Special Committee shall adopt the necessary implementing rules upon a proposal of the Administrator.
