concerning restrictive measures in view of the situation in Zimbabwe

THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION,

Having regard to the Treaty on European Union, and in particular Article 29 thereof,

Whereas:

On 19 February 2004, the Council adopted Common Position 2004/161/CFSP renewing restrictive measures against Zimbabwe1.
(2)
Council Decision 2010/92/CFSP2, adopted on 15 February 2010, extended the restrictive measures provided for in Common Position 2004/161/CFSP until 20 February 2011.

On the basis of a review of Common Position 2004/161/CFSP, the restrictive measures should be renewed until 20 February 2012.

However, there are no longer grounds for keeping certain persons on the list of persons and entities to which the restrictive measures provided for in Common Position 2004/161/CFSP apply.

The Union implementing measures are set out in Council Regulation (EC) No 314/2004 of 19 February 2004 concerning certain restrictive measures in respect of Zimbabwe3,
