This Order provides that in its application to the Isles of Scilly section 3 of the Carers (Equal Opportunities) Act 2004 (“the Act”) shall have effect with the modification that any reference to a local authority shall, in relation to the Isles of Scilly, be construed as a reference to the Council of the Isles of Scilly. This does not apply to the reference in subsection (5)(a) which, in relation to a request made by the Council, shall have effect as if the word “other” is omitted, but the Order adds the Council of the Isles of Scilly to the list of authorities mentioned in section 3(5) of the Act in relation to a request made by a local authority.
