Overview of the Structure of the Act

4.The Act is in four parts with a single Schedule.

PARTSUMMARY
Part 1Makes provision in relation to the law relating to designs
Part 2 including the ScheduleMakes provision in relation to the law relating to patents
Part 3Makes provision for a research exemption from disclosure in relation to freedom of information, for a reporting duty on the Secretary of State in relation to intellectual property matters and the facilitation of economic growth, and for the automatic extension of certain existing copyright provisions to nationals of, and works first published in, other countries without the need to include a list of countries and territories in an order.
Part 4Makes provision to confer powers to make consequential or transitional provision and regarding the commencement, extent and short title
