The Criminal Law Act 1977 (Commencement No. 11) Order 1982

In exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 65(7) of the Criminal Law Act 1977, I hereby make the following Order:—

1.  This Order may be cited as the Criminal Law Act 1977 (Commencement No. 11) Order 1982.

2.  The provisions of the Criminal Law Act 1977 specified in column 1 of the Schedule to this Order (which relate to the matters specified in column 2 thereof) shall come into force on 29th March 1982.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order brings into force on 29th March 1982 section 47 of the Criminal Law Act 1977 (prison sentences partly served and partly suspended) together with Schedule 9 to that Act (matters ancillary to section 47) (except paragraph 3(3) of that Schedule which came into force on 17th July 1978). The Order also brings into force on 29th March 1982 the repeal of certain spent provisions in the Criminal Procedure (Scotland) Act 1975 namely paragraphs 15 and 35 of Schedule 9 to that Act. On that date the whole of the Criminal Law Act 1977, except section 48 (power to make rules as to furnishing of information by prosecution in criminal proceedings), will have been brought into force.
