93.Section 16 places duties on the NDA in respect of its responsibilities for the operation of installations and facilities, including any under section 4(2), the treatment, storage, transportation or disposal of hazardous material under section 3(1)(e) and the management of any land under section 4(1) or (2). The NDA is to carry out these tasks in accordance with such general and specific directions as may be given to it by the Secretary of State and, where there was a joint designation, Scottish Ministers. The NDA must also act in accordance with its approved strategy and annual plan.
