(1)No person other than the University shall, within a period of 25 years beginning with the date on which this Act is passed, use any of the names mentioned in subsection (2) below without the consent of the University.
(2)The names referred to in subsection (1) above are—
(a)The Victoria University of Manchester;
(b)University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology;
(c)UMIST; and
(d)Manchester University.
Notwithstanding any enactment or other rule of law to the contrary, the existing bodies may produce final accounts for a period greater than one year ending on the appointed day.
On the appointed day the enactments specified in the first column of Schedule 3 to this Act shall be repealed to the extent specified in the second column of that Schedule.
The costs, charges and expenses preliminary, or incidental, to the preparation of, and the application for, and the obtaining and passing of, this Act shall be paid by the University out of the funds of the University.
