The Environment (Designation of Relevant Directives) Order (Northern Ireland) 2003

The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred upon it by paragraph 20(2)(d) of Schedule 1 to the Environment (Northern Ireland) Order 2002(1), and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Environment (Designation of Relevant Directives) Order (Northern Ireland) 2003 and shall come into operation on 1st May 2003.

2.  The following Directives are designated as relevant directives for the purposes of paragraph 20(2)(d) of Schedule 1 to the Environment (Northern Ireland) Order 2002 –

(a) Council Directive 1999/13/EC on the limitation of emissions of volatile organic compounds due to the use of organic solvents in certain activities and installations(2);

(b) Council Directive 2000/53/EC on end-of-life vehicles(3);

(c) Council Directive 2000/76/EC on the incineration of waste(4); and

(d) Council Directive 2001/80/EC on the limitation of emissions of certain pollutants into the air from large combustion plants(5).

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order designates the Directives listed below as relevant directives for the purposes of paragraph 20(2)(d) of Schedule 1 to the Environment (Northern Ireland) Order 2002:

(a) Council Directive 1999/13/EC on the limitation of emissions of volatile organic compounds due to the use of organic solvents in certain activities and installations;

(b) Council Directive 2000/53/EC on end-of-life vehicles;

(c) Council Directive 2000/76/EC on the incineration of waste; and
