http://www.legislation.gov.uk/asp/2026/16/section/5Children (Care, Care Experience and Services Planning) (Scotland) Act 2026en2026-05-21Statute Law Database2026-05-16 Part 1Chapter 1 5 1 Without prejudice to section 12 of the Social Work (Scotland) Act 1968 (general social welfare services of local authorities), the responsible local authority in relation to a person may, if the person falls within subsection (2), make— a grants to the person to enable the person to meet expenses connected with the person’s education or training, and b contributions to the accommodation and maintenance of any such person in any place near where the person may be— i employed, or seeking employment, or ii receiving education and training. 2 A person falls within this subsection if the person— a is aged 16 to 25, b is not (but has, at any time in the person’s life, been) looked after by a local authority, and c has not, since ceasing to be looked after by the responsible local authority, been looked after elsewhere in the UK. 3 The responsible local authority in relation to a person may, after the person reaches the age of 26, continue to make grants or contributions of the types mentioned in subsection (1) if the authority is satisfied that it is appropriate to do so for the purposes of education, training, employment or employment-seeking in relation to which such grants or contributions were being made before the person’s 26th birthday.
