2Offence of operating a track for the racing of greyhounds
(1)
A person commits an offence if the person—
(a)
owns or is responsible for the operation of a racetrack, and
(b)
knowingly causes or permits another person to cause a greyhound to run on that racetrack.
(2)
A person who commits an offence under this section is liable—
(a)
on summary conviction, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months or a fine not exceeding £20,000 (or both),
(b)
on conviction on indictment, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years or a fine (or both).
(3)
In this section, a person is responsible for the operation of a racetrack if the person—
(a)
manages or controls that racetrack, or
(b)
is authorised to give permission for another person to cause a greyhound to run on that racetrack.
