17.The Civil Partnerships, Marriages and Deaths (Registration etc) Act 2019 and the Northern Ireland (Executive Formation etc) Act 2019 allow for the conversion of a marriage into a civil partnership in England and Wales, and Northern Ireland, respectively. Section 5 of the Act provides the Scottish Ministers with a regulation-making power to enable the recognition of those converted marriages as civil partnerships in Scotland.
