3.The Act establishes South of Scotland Enterprise, an enterprise agency for the south of Scotland. Scotland has two existing enterprise agencies: Scottish Enterprise and Highlands and Islands Enterprise (both established by the Enterprise and New Towns (Scotland) Act 1990).
4.As an Act of the Scottish Parliament, the Act’s provisions fall to be read in accordance with the interpretation rules in Part 1 of the Interpretation and Legislative Reform (Scotland) Act 2010.
