For the purposes of the law of defamation, any statement made by the Tenant Farming Commissioner in pursuance of the Commissioner's inquiry function under section 24(1)(c) has qualified privilege.

In subsection (1) “statement” has the meaning given by section 17 of the Defamation Act 1996.
