Police and Fire Reform (Scotland) Act 2012

Police Cadets

35.Section 25 allows the chief constable to appoint police cadets to undergo training with a view to becoming constables. Such cadets are to be treated as employees of the SPA as they are not attested officers under section 10 of the Act and do not have the powers of a constable. They are however under the direction and control of the chief constable and are subject to regulations made under section 48 in relation to their terms and conditions of service in line with the provisions in the 1967 Act.
