9Progress towards targets

(1)

The Scottish Ministers must in each yearF1... request the relevant body to prepare a report setting out that body's views on—

(a)

progress towards achievement of F2future emissions reduction targets,

(c)

any further effort which may be necessary to achieve F5the future emissions reduction targets.

F6(d)

any draft climate change plan laid before the Scottish Parliament under section 35A(1)(a) within the period of 12 months immediately preceding the making of the request.

No later than the end of the second year following F7each target year, the Scottish Ministers must request the relevant body to prepare a report setting out that body's views on—

(a)

whether the F8emissions reduction target for the target year was met;

F9(b)

(c)

the ways in which those targets were or were not met;

(d)

the action taken by the Scottish Ministers to reduce net Scottish emissions F10of greenhouse gases during that year.

The Scottish Ministers must lay a response to the relevant body's report under this section before the Scottish Parliament as soon as reasonably practicable after they receive that body's report.
