1SIn this schedule—

  • lay member” means a person who is neither a police authority member nor a police force member;

  • local authority” means a council constituted under section 2 of the Local Government etc. (Scotland) Act 1994 (c. 39);

  • police authority member” means a person—

    (a)

    who is a member of a local authority; and

    (b)

    who, whether by election or otherwise, has the function of chairing meetings of any of the police bodies (whether or not referred to in that capacity as “convener”); and

  • police force member” means a person who holds the rank of chief constable in a police force.
