<Pnumber>1</Pnumber>
<P2para>
<Text>There shall be a body corporate, to be known as the Scottish Social Services Council (in the following provisions of this Act referred to as “the Council”), which—</Text>
<P3 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/asp/2001/8/section/43/1/a/made" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/asp/2001/8/section/43/1/a" id="section-43-1-a">
<Pnumber>a</Pnumber>
<P3para>
<Text>shall exercise the functions conferred on it by this Act or any other enactment; and</Text>
</P3para>
</P3>
<P3 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/asp/2001/8/section/43/1/b/made" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/asp/2001/8/section/43/1/b" id="section-43-1-b">
<Pnumber>b</Pnumber>
<P3para>
<Text>shall have the general duty of promoting high standards—</Text>
<P4 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/asp/2001/8/section/43/1/b/i/made" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/asp/2001/8/section/43/1/b/i" id="section-43-1-b-i">
<Pnumber>i</Pnumber>

<Text>of conduct and practice among social service workers; and</Text>
</P4para>
</P4>
<P4 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/asp/2001/8/section/43/1/b/ii/made" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/asp/2001/8/section/43/1/b/ii" id="section-43-1-b-ii">
<Pnumber>ii</Pnumber>

<Text>in their education and training.</Text>

<Pnumber>2</Pnumber>
<P2para>
<Text>The Council shall, in the exercise of its functions, act—</Text>
<P3 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/asp/2001/8/section/43/2/a/made" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/asp/2001/8/section/43/2/a" id="section-43-2-a">
<Pnumber>a</Pnumber>
<P3para>
<Text>in accordance with any directions in writing given to it by the Scottish Ministers;</Text>
</P3para>
</P3>
<P3 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/asp/2001/8/section/43/2/b/made" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/asp/2001/8/section/43/2/b" id="section-43-2-b">
<Pnumber>b</Pnumber>
<P3para>
<Text>under the general guidance of the Scottish Ministers; and</Text>
</P3para>
</P3>
<P3 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/asp/2001/8/section/43/2/c/made" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/asp/2001/8/section/43/2/c" id="section-43-2-c">
<Pnumber>c</Pnumber>
<P3para>
<Text>in a manner which encourages equal opportunities and in particular the observance of the equal opportunity requirements.</Text>
</P3para>
</P3>

</P2>

<Pnumber>3</Pnumber>
<P2para>
<Text>Schedule 2 to this Act shall have effect with respect to the Council.</Text>
