http://www.legislation.gov.uk/apni/1967/8Fishing Vessels (Grants) Act (Northern Ireland) 1967An Act to make provision for financial aid towards expenditure in relation to fishing vessels and for purposes connected therewith.texttext/xmlenStatute Law Database2017-06-29Expert Participation2016-05-08 1967 Chapter 8An Act to make provision for financial aid towards expenditure in relation to fishing vessels and for purposes connected therewith.[23rd May 1967]11Subject to the provisions of this Act, the Ministry of Agriculture may, in accordance with a scheme made by that Ministry with the approval of the Ministry of Finance, make out of moneys provided by Parliament to any person carrying on or proposing to carry on a business in the fishing industry in Northern Ireland a grant towards so much of the expenditure incurred by that person—ain providing a fishing vessel; orbin providing an engine for a fishing vessel; orcin improving a sea fishing vessel;for use for the purposes of that business as may be approved by the Ministry of Agriculture in pursuance of the scheme.2[ Subject to subsection (2A),] no grant shall be made in pursuance of a scheme under this Act in respect of expenditure incurred in providing any vessel, engine, part, equipment or apparatus which appears to the Ministry of Agriculture to be second-hand.[ (2A) A grant may be made in pursuance of a scheme under this Act in respect of that part of the expenditure (approved as mentioned in subsection (1)), incurred in providing a second-hand vessel, which is attributable to any liability to repay—a grant under this Act or any other statutory provision; ora grant under the law of any other part of the United Kingdom;in respect of the vessel or any engine, part, equipment or apparatus therein.]3A scheme made under this Act—amay provide for—irepayment of grant in specified circumstances;iithe imposition of penalties in respect of contraventions of provisions of the scheme;Para.(b) rep. by 1979 NI 12cshall be subject to affirmative resolution.21In this Act—“fishing vessel” means a vessel which is provided for use in catching fish and is primarily so used;“improving” in relation to a fishing vessel includes the acquisition, installation, modification, renewal or replacement of any part of such a vessel or of any relevant equipment required for or installed or used on such a vessel.[ “statutory provision” has the meaning assigned to it by section 1( f) of the Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954 .]2This Act may be cited as the Fishing Vessels (Grants) Act (Northern Ireland) 1967.1954 c.331972 c.4 (NI)1972 c.4 (NI)1979 NI 121972 c.4 (NI)Certain functions transf. by SR 1999/481Act: transfer of functions (8.5.2016) by The Departments (Transfer of Functions) Order (Northern Ireland) 2016 (S.R. 2016/76), Sch. 3 Pt. 1 (with art. 9(2))
