A governing body of a maintained school or a head teacher subject to a direction under this Chapter must comply with it.

This includes a direction to exercise a power or duty that is contingent upon the opinion of the governing body or head teacher.

A direction under this Chapter—
a
must be in writing;
b
may be varied or revoked by a later direction;
c
is enforceable by mandatory order on application by, or on behalf of, the person who gave the direction.

In exercising its functions under this Chapter, a local authority must have regard to guidance given by the Welsh Ministers.
