LXVII.

Proviso for Payment of Assessments in Clipt Silver before 4th May 1696.; Acquittance to be given by Collectors.

And whereas several Persone who shall bee assessed by this Act for or in respect of their Manors Lands Tenements Rents Offices Personal Estates or other Matters or Things hereby intended to bee charged may bee willing and desirous to pay or satisfy att once in Clipt Moneys being Sterling Silver or Silver of a worse Allay than the Standard Two or more of the said Foure Quarterly Payments by this Act required to be satisfied by them be it further enacted by the Authority aforesaid That it shall and may bee lawfull to and for any such Person or Persons att any time before the Fourth Day of May One thousand six hundred ninety six to satisfie and pay to the respective Collector who in pursuance of this Act shall bee impowered to receive the First Quarterly Payment in such Clipt Silver Moneys as aforesaid Twice Thrice or Foure times as much as shall bee assessed or payable for the said First Quarterly Payment for or in respect of any such Manors Lands Tenements Rents Offices Personal Estates or other Matters or Things respectively Which said Collectors are hereby enjoyned and required upon every such Payment so made att once to give the Partie or Parties paying the same an Acquittance expressing the Su[m]m received for such Quarterly Payments for the respective Manors Lands Tenements Rents Offices Personal Estates or other Matters or Things for which such Payment shall be soe made And every such Acquittance shall bee a good Discharge against His Majestie His Heires and Successors as if the Su[m]ms chargeable by this Act on such Manors Lands Tenements Rents Offices Personal Estates or other Matters or Things were assessed or answered att such several and respective Quarterly Payments as is above mentioned Any thing in this Act contained to the contrary notwithstanding.
